So, I have been trying to get out of my comfort zone a little bit lately and get back into being more experimental with my makeup. I figure in a week or so when bub number two is finally here my care factor in doing my makeup is going to take a very big nose dive and I'll be lucky to get out of the house with some concealer and mascara on so I should be trying to make the most of it now while I still can.
The other day I was going through some of my old palettes and I came across one that I haven't given any love to in a very long time and that was my Savoir Faire Cosmetics 'Winter' kit.
I seriously loved this kit when I first got it but as what always happens when I get shiny new things some of the older stuff gets forgotten about.
So, here is the look that I created using the shadows in this kit the other day which I have dubbed my 'Autumn Sunset' eye look (yes, I am fully aware it is not Autumn in Australia right now but I just liked the name :-))
I used my three favourite shades from the kit to achieve this look which were 'Devout' (the pale beige shade on the top right) applied all over the lid as a base up to the brow bone, then I blended 'Spicy' (the coppery shade on the bottom left) into my crease before applying a light dusting of 'Kinetic' (the purple shade in the middle of the top row) onto the centre of the lid and blending out to the edges.
Here is a breakdown of the rest of the products I used for this look.
Face:
* Avon Ideal Shade Souffle Foundation in Ivory (I love, love, love this foundation at the moment for my dry and irritated hormonal skin!)
* Napoleon Perdis The One Concealer
* Physicians Formula Translucent Powder
* The Balm blush in Hot Mama
* Prestige Mineral Bronzing Powder in Sunbaked as a highlight
Eyes:
* Mirenesse Sexy Secret Eye Primer (this stuff seriously makes my eyeshadow stay crease free for an entire day which is a miracle with my super hooded eyes)
* Mirenesse Touch Up Brow Sculpter
* Mirenesss Inside Out 27Hr Eye Kohl in Amun
* Rimmel Wake Me Up Wonder Full Mascara in Black
Lips:
* Colour by TBN Lipstick in A Kiss is Still a Kiss
* Savoir Faire Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Fierce
Overall I really loved this look and didn't find it too much for wearing to work either even though it is a lot brighter than what I usually go for in the daytime.
Do you sometimes like the experiment and break out of your comfort zone during the day, or do you prefer to play around with different looks on the weekend or at night when it's a bit more safe?
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

March 2015 Favourites
March has been a bit of a mixed month for me. My skin has just decided it doesn't agree with pregnancy and has gone absolutely crazy breaking out all over the place and no amount of foundation or strategically placed concealer is making me feel much good right now.
In an effort to take some of the focus off my horrid skin I have been opting for more brighter products on my eyes and lips so here is a quick round up of a few of the products that have been on high rotation during the past month.
1) Australis Conceal & Correct 4-in-1 Concealer Corrector Palette - This little beauty has been a bit of a life saver for me lately as it contains two concealer shades (a light and a darker one), a green shade to combat redness and a lilac shade to brighten up dull areas and dark circles. It's so handy to have all these products in one little pot and until my skin calms down I'll be getting a lot of use out of this.
2) Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick in Just-Pinched Pink - I picked this up on sale at Coles a few weeks ago and just love it. It's such a pretty light pink shade that suits my skin tone perfectly and makes me look a lot fresher and more awake than I feel most days. I do plan on doing a review on this in the near future so stay tuned.
3) Clinique Face Compact - This was in the last Clinique gift with purchase I fell for which I wrote about here and the lazy girl in me has been using it almost every day since. The two eyeshadow shades are just so easy to throw on without any thought and the blush is also a great everyday shade.
4) Mirenesse Inside Out 27hr Eye Kohl in Isis - I have been loving this pretty shade of blue as a pop of colour underneath my eyes when I am wearing nothing but a nude or cream shade of eyeshadow. It just seems to brighten up my eyes without much effort required at all.
5) Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint in Poppin' Poppy - This was another product I got in the last Clinique gift with purchase and although I wasn't very impressed with it initially, I have really grown to love it. It's a great little balm to swipe quickly over the lips when I want a teeny hint of colour and it is surprisingly moisturising too.
6) Face of Australia Sheer Gloss Lip Crayon in Macaron - After being so disappointed in the last FOA lip crayon I purchased in Peach Parfait which I recently reviewed here, I ended up rekindling my love for this pretty pink one instead. It's a great shade to wear for a little bit of a pick-me-up when I'm not wanting a full-on opaque lip.
7) Cherry Brown Lipstick in Hot Pink - I recently reviewed this lipstick here and have been wearing it quite a lot when I don't want to do much with the rest of my face but still want to look awake. It's a shade that just automatically makes you feel better when you're wearing it.
So, that's it for the products that I have reached for the most during the last month.
What products have you been reaching for the most lately?

Blue Eyeshadow - Yay or Nay?
The other night we went out to dinner and I was inspired to do a blue eyeshadow look as the dress I had on had some bright splashes of blue through it.
I know most people associate blue eyeshadow with the 80's but I really like it and I think that if the colour isn't too heavy it can look quite pretty so long as you keep the rest of your makeup subtle.
For this look I busted out my 120 pro-palette and did a blend of the three blue shades I have circled below. The palest shade on the top row is what I applied all over my lid, with the first light blue shade on the second row applied to the centre of my lid. The darker shade on the second row is what I blended into the outer corner and into the crease.
The rest of the products I used to complete this look were as follows:
Face:
* Avon's Ideal Shade Souffle Foundation in Ivory
* Mirenesse Touch On Concealer in Golden Cream
* Physicians Formula Transluscent Pressed Powder
* Bourjois Bronzing Power in Fair to contour
* Bourjois Blush in Rose Pompon
Eyes:
* Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Macara in Noir Max
* Mirenesse Seamless Velvet Shadow in American Star (Shimmery cream shade to blend the blues together and highlight my brow bone)
Lips:
* Nude by Nature Lipliner in Chique
* Mirenesse French Kiss Lip Cocktail Lipstick in Bellini
What do you think? Would you brave blue eyeshadow or do you think it should be left to the 80's?
Have a great day!

Face of the Day - Using some old favourites
I only realised the other day how long it has actually been since I did a face of the day and put my big mug on the blog for all to see. I always want to show my face of the day but by the time I've put my makeup on in between stopping no less than 20 times to make sure my toddler isn't burning our house down in another room, then trying to remember to get some photos before we rush out the door, then trying to remember what products I actually used when I come to write it all down is a bit of a mission and a half these days.
This look is one that I wear quite often as I am a huge fan of a purple toned eye. I feel that purple seems to suit me more than most other shades and paired with a white or cream shadow it also makes me look a bit more awake than I really am too! I was also on a mission to use some of my older products that had been forgotten about on this day as well.
Here is what I used for this look:
* Mirenesse Absolutely Firm Treatment Primer
* Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation in Vanilla mixed with a little bit of the Models Prefer Illuminizor in Illuminate to brighten my skin
* Napoleon Perdis The One Concealer under my eyes and over any blemishes
* Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Matte Finishing Veil in Translucent
* Australis Bronzing Powder in Golden to contour and Prestige Mineral Bronzing Powder in Pure Shimmer to highlight
* Clinique Quick Blush in In-A Rush Blush
* Avon Glimmersticks Brow Definer in Tawny
* Clinique High Impact Eye Shadow in Sugar Sugar all over the lid with CK Intense Eyeshadow in Merlot blended into the outer half of the lid and into the crease
* Camouflage Colour Skin Crayon as a liner - This doesn't have a shade name but is a browny/purple colour
* Almay Intense I-Colour Volumising Mascara in Midnight
* ASAP Pure Mineral Lip Pencil in Two as a liner with MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in How Darling
This is a nice subtle workday look for me that doesn't take much thinking and is pretty quick to do.
What looks have you been loving lately?
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

November 2013 Favourites
So, I usually don't worry about posting about the products I used the most during a month because a lot of the time I mix things up so much that I tend to forget what I have loved more than others.
But, the month of November was just so hectic that I don't even really remember much of it and I found myself really using the above products practically every day because it meant that there was less for me to try and think about when I was getting ready.
Anyway, here is a break down of the products that kept me sane during the month of November.
Face
* Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation in Vanilla - I have had this foundation tucked up in the back of my makeup cabinet for ages and finally cracked it open last month and instantly fell in love. I can't believe how gorgeous and lovely the texture is of this foundation and the coverage is perfect for my skin.
* Nude by Nature Soft Focus Illuminator - I found this to be the perfect partner for the Bourjois foundation when I wanted a bit more of a glow to my skin.
* Savoir Faire Cconcealer in Light - I've been really needing a bit more coverage under the eyes lately as sleep has been eluding me and for some reason I've had a lot of breakouts around my chin area since the weather has warmed up. This concealer blends perfectly with my skin tone and gives just the right amount of coverage.
* MAC Blush in Formal - This was a recent acquisition during November- in the Stroke of Midnight Lip & Cheek bag I reviewed a few days ago and I've just loved how versatile this pink is and how well it blends onto my cheeks to give a nice healthy glow.
Eyes/Brows
* Elizabeth Arden Colour Palette - I think I have shown this before a very long time ago. I always seem to break this old faithful out when I'm in a hurry because the two Graphite and Platinum eyeshadow shades gives a great quick and easy eye look that goes with practically everything. The blush in Sunblush makes a great bronzer too when I really want to get out the door quickly.
* Calvin Klein Intense Eyeshadow in Aqua Shimmer - I seem to gravitate towards green eye makeup when the weather warms up and I just love this shade blended into the crease lightly to brighten up the eye area when I really feel like just going back to bed.
* Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Extreme Lengthening Mascara in Black - This is one of my favourtie all-time mascaras and I always break it out when I want one that I can rely on without wondering whether it will be halfway down my face by the end of the day.
* Mirenesse Inside Out 27Hr Eye Kohl in Osiris - I love the shade of this eyeliner as it's a dark gunmetal grey and therefore not as intense as black. These eyeliners are great and I have every shade but I don't recommend using them on a very hot day as they can get extremely soft which makes them a bit harder to apply accurately.
* Ardell Brow Defining Kit - If you saw my recent review of this product it won't be any surprise as to why this has become a daily necessity for me. I just love it.
* Models Prefer Brow Highlighter - I've been using this mostly as a highlighter for the inner corners of the eyes to wake me up a bit more and it's definitely grown more on me for use as a brow highlighter too when I'm in a hurry. It also makes a great cheekbone highlighter in a pinch too.
Lips
* Models Prefer Ultra Lipgloss Pencil in Perfectly Polished - These pencils are so easy to apply when in a hurry and give a really great amount of colour on the lips.
* MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in How Darling! - You would have seen that this was only a recent aquisition for me during November and I have been obsessed with the milky pinkness ever since.
Hair/Body
* Evodia Coconut & Lime Fragrance Roll-On - I thought I would hate this when I got it as I'm normally not the biggest fan of fake coconut scents but when we flew to Tasmania for our holiday I took it due to it being nice and small to fit into my makeup bag and I kind of became a bit obsessed with it.
* Schwarzkopf Dry Shampoo - I received this to trial from Beautyheaven and can't get enough of it. I just love the fresh scent and it makes my hair feel really nice and clean in between shampoos.
So those are the products I loved and lived with during the month of November.
What were some of your favourites during the month?

FOTD featuring Arbonne Cosmetics
A couple of days ago I reviewed some products from the Arbonne Cosmetics range here and decided to post a quick FOTD which I did incorporating all of those products for what I think is an easy and very simple daytime look.
For this look I used the following products:
Face: Nude by Nature BB 5 in 1 Miracle Cream, Mirenesse Touch On Concealer in Golden Cream, Arbonne Cosmetics Blush in Blossom, b Collection by Bloom Cheek Tint in Napa Valley (to highlight), Australis Bronzing Powder in Golden (to contour)
Eyes: Arbonne Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Divine Plum blended out all over lid, Mirenesse Touch Up Brow Sculptor, Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Extreme Mascara in Black
Lips: Arbonne Cosmetics Lipstick in Scarlet
I'm absolutely loving bolder colours on my face at the moment now it's getting a bit cooler temperature wise.
Is anyone else embracing darker shades now we're heading into more chilly weather?

FOTD - My Attempt at a Wearable Blue Eyeshadow Look
Howdy everybody. I've decided I'm going to try and make a really good attempt at posting more FOTD's from now on.
I usually always have such good intentions of doing this whenever I get ready but then most of the time I'm in such a rush and completely forget to photograph myself before I leave, or, I usually forget to keep out the products I use and then can't remember what they were afterwards!
The other day I felt like wearing a blue eyeshadow look and ended up with the below finished product. It was actually quite basic and quite a wearable look for the day I thought:
Once I broke down what I used to create this look I realised there were a lot of Mirenesse products for some reason. This was a total coincidence and really wasn't intentional at all! Here is what I used:
Face
Innoxa Tinted Moisturiser in Nude Beige
Natio Mineral Pressed Powder in Medium Tan
Mirenesse Cheeky Blush in Russian Rose
Eyes
Mirenesse Seamless Velvet Shadow in Greek Goddess
Bourjois Smoky Effect Eyeliner in Dark Purple
Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Mascara in Black
Lips
I mixed together my Napoleon Perdis Lip Patrol lipstick in Private Kiss and Mirenesse French Kiss Lip Cocktail in Bellini to create a really nice and soft pink shade.
I really like the Mirenesse eye shadows and wear them quite often. They are a lovely consistency and really easy to blend out. The blue shadow with purple liner was a combination I haven't tried before but really liked once it was finished.
Mixing different shades of lipstick is something I have been experimenting with a lot lately as well.
I also love days like this when my skin is behaving and I can get away with a bit of tinted moisturiser and powder and not worry about foundation or concealer. It doesn't happen very often but I certainly embrace it when it does.
I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend!

Mirenesse Pore Perfect Cover Air Mousse Primer
Yep, that's a mouthful and a half for a name isn't it? From this point on I will refer to this little gem as 'Pore Perfect' to save my delicate fingers.
Mirenesse Pore Perfect is a skin perfecting multi-purpose mineral foundation and pore perfecting primer in one. I purchased this a couple of months ago and have been using it most days ever since.
It has a lovely, light 'mousse like' consistency that is so easy to blend onto the skin for a flawless look all day.
I have been very into minimal makeup looks during summer and have been lucky to have had my skin in the best condition it has been in for a very long time. Therefore, this little tube of goodness has been pretty much all I have been putting on my face instead of foundation when I feel like I need a little bit of extra coverage than just some tinted moisturiser and powder.
Pore Perfect really does live up to it's name and definitely does a great job of covering my pores and smoothing the surface of my skin. It makes my skin feel a little like velvet after being applied and amazingly lasts all day without caking into fine lines or making my skin greasy.
As far as I can tell it only comes in the one shade which is a perfect match for my pale skin tone. It's virtually undetectable when blended in properly which I love.
My only gripe is the size of the packaging that it comes in. It's a tiny 13gm tube that does go a surprsingly long way but a tube in double the size would seem a little bit more practical to me for an all over face product.
Has anyone else ever tried Pore Perfect?
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

Disappointment of the Month - Mirenesse Flawless Revolution 24hr Skin Corrector
As this is only my second ever Disappointment of the Month post, you know that I don't give up on a product easily. Unfortunately, I am at a complete loss with this one and feel I'd be doing the public a disservice by not mentioning it.
(So pretty, but so useless!)
I have to admit, I bought this product for the eye candy factor originally. I thought it looked so pretty and decided I had to have it. As you are aware I have a bit of a soft spot for Mirenesse products and have loved virtually everything of their's I have tried so far but I just could not get my head around what this one was supposed to do.
The Mirenesse Flawless Revolution Antiageing 3 in 1 24hr Skin Corrector claims to be a multi-tasking skin corrector with revolutionary Chromafusion Technology to instantly perfect and correct skin colour and texture.
It's made up of 4 different creams swirled together which all work (supposedly) as follows:
* Clear - smoothes pores and lines
* Lemon - corrects darkness
* Peach - corrects dullness
* Green - corrects redness
Now, no matter how I apply this product, I can't get it to either stay on my skin or look anything other than like snakeskin. When I rub it in I get one section to look really good (the instructions are very strict that you have to only apply it to one section of the face at a time) but then as soon as I try to apply it to another section, if I accidentally go anywhere near the bit I just applied it starts to rub itself away and then clumps on my skin and overall becomes impossible to work with.
Also, it makes my pores look huge!! It seems to sink into them which makes me look like I have little white-filled craters all over my face. Not a good look!
The last straw is the fact that not a single foundation I own will go over this product without clumping and/or rubbing it off and causing an awful mess on my skin. It's just so hard to explain, but think of it the same way as if you just applied fresh filler to a hole in a wall and didn't let it dry properly before trying to paint over it. The filler bunches in with the paint and starts to flake off the wall all over the place - well that pretty much what happens every time I try to apply foundation when I'm wearing this product.
The end result is usually me giving up and washing my face and starting all over again with my old faithful primers.
I've never been so frustrated with a product in my life!
Here is an example I tried to capture of the snakeskin effect and how it highlights rather than smoothes my pores:
(Yuk!)
(Extremely exaggerated pores!)
So yes, this product is unfortunately going in the 'Do not use unless absolutely desperate or I feel like punishing myself' pile until I can bare to part with it (It's certrainly not that cheap at around $69.50 a bottle, or $55.60 for VIPs). If it wasn't for the pricetag, it would be going straight into the bin, but I feel some sort of need to keep trying to work with it until I just can't even look at the prettiness of it anymore to try and justify how much I paid for it.
So, so sad.....
Has anyone else ever used this product before? Is there a special trick to using it that I just don't know about?

December Addiction - Mirenesse Crystal Colour Drops Hydrating Mineral Powders
Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and have great plans to bring in the New Year. Sorry I have been absent a bit lately but hubby has had the week off so we've had some much needed family time which meant blogging had to take a back seat unfortunately. He also rebuilt my laptop during the week (the benefit of living with a Network Engineer) to try and make it run better for me so hopefully I'll have no more issues for a while.
Anyway, today I just had to talk about a product that I have been using non-stop over the past month which is my Mirenesse Crystal Colour Drops Hydrating Mineral Powders.
This is a great multi-use palette which contains a contouring shade, a highlight shade and two blush shades.
It's a huge competitor to my beloved Napoleon Perdis Ultimate Contour Palette which I was obsessed with for a little while, but this one just manages to stay in front by having the extra blush shade.
These powders are lovely and soft and blend perfectly. They are extremely pigmented which means a light hand is needed, especially for the rosy shade and the contouring shade. I am in love with the peachy shade as it is the perfect shade of blush for my pale skintone when I'm after a natural look.
These also make great eyeshadows if you're in a hurry as they don't crease or disappear but last the entire day on the face.
I love multi use palettes like this because they just make life so much easier and are great for travelling.
This palette usually retails for $59.95 but Mirenesse is having a 35% off sale at the moment so you could score it for around $39 if you're quick.
Has anyone else tried this great product yet?

The mousse primer is unbelievable and I think it will become a favourite product of mine and the Mineral Powders is a very good competitor to my Napoleon Ultimate Contour Palette. The lip gloss is a really pretty pale pink with a hint of sparkle.
2) Lip Bomb in no. 9 - This is an amazing lip product that is kind of like a hybrid between a lipstick and a gloss. It seems to be very similar to an OCC Lip Tar in consistency and colour payoff and this one is a bright apricot/pink shade. My only gripe is that Mirenesse give these a number instead of a name. I prefer products to have names so you can relate to them better. Is that weird?
By purchasing the above products I was entitled to receive two freebies and from the selection they gave me I chose the Cheeky Blush in Russian Rose and a sample of the Eclipse Age Defence Daily Face & Neck Mineral Balm. The blush is so gorgeous and I don't want to ruin the pattern on it by using it! I've used the balm once so far and really like it. It also contains an SPF15 which is always a winner with me.
Overall I was super pleased with what I got in this order and am looking forward to trying it all out properly. Next month I think I might have a go at ordering some of their skin care products as I'm curious to see what they are like.

EOTD - Silver and Grey
I decided to go out of my comfort zone the other night when hubby and I went out to dinner and did an EOTD that is a lot darker than I am usually used to. I am so glad I did though because I absolutely loved it!
This look was done by using the last three shades in my Chi Chi Eye Palette in Fashion Victim (see below). I have had this palette for such a long time and am only starting to appreciate the shades in it again.
I used the lighter silver shade all over the lid to just above the crease, then I shaded my crease on the outer corners with the darker gunmetal shade and then used the shimmery white shade to highlight the inner corner and blend the other two shades together. I also used the lighter silver shade to line underneath my eyes as well and my Models Prefer Kohl Pencil in Matte Black to line my upper lids. I then finished it off with a coat of Elizabeth Arden Ceramide mascara in Black.
I never bother lining my waterline as I have ridiculously watery eyes due to being a perpetual hayfever sufferer and I have never been able to find an eyeliner that manages to stay put there. If anyone knows of a liner that could possibly compete against my watery eyes I'd love to know about it!
Unfortunately, I have to wear glasses all the time so unless I decide to put my contacts in, which is something I usually only reserve for special occasions, whatever eye makeup I wear has a tendency to get lost behind my frames. This look was definitely dark enough though that it stood out even with my glasses on.
I decided to go all out with a darker lip too. Usually if my eyes were this done up I'd opt for a more subtle lip colour but I thought that while I was jumping in the deep end I may as well go all the way!
Here is what I used for the rest of my face:
Base: Garnier B.B. Cream in Light, Natio Pressed Powder in Medium Tan
Blush, Contouring and Highlighting: Napoleon Perdis Ultimate Contour Palette
Lips: Mirenesse 3D Forever Gloss in Hot Kiss
How do you like to go out of your comfort zone now and then?

(Please forgive the stray brow hairs, I'm in desperate need for someone to mind my little man for a few hours one day soon for me so I can get them tidied up!)

Mirenesse Lip Gloss Love
It's no secret that I absolutely love Mirenesse lip glosses. I have found them to be the best wearing and most comfortable gloss out there. They aren't sticky and they have a very light scent and taste that isn't unpleasant at all.
I now own 6 of these babies (I since acquired another two after preparing the pictures for this post) and seem to choose these over all of the other glosses in my collection.
This is two of them that have been on high rotation at the moment:
No. 20 is kind of a muddy red which is great for days when you want to have a darker lip but don't want to go all out and No. 35 is a really pretty light apricot that can be worn with practically anything.
The Mirenesse glosses have your usual doe foot applicator and I have never noticed them bleeding into the lip lines. They leave your lips feeling nice and moisturised when applied and seem to wear for a good couple of hours before needing to be reapplied.
Does anyone else like these lip glosses as much as I do?
