Nails of the Week - Polished London Nail Enamel in Milky Mocha

Oh My God! It has literally been forever since I have done a Nails of the Week post. It's not that I haven't been wearing nail polish but I'm usually so busy with work, the kids and house stuff that I have just been completely forgetting to take photos of my nails once I've applied any polish. Then, when I do finally remember there is always a chip or two already so I miss my opportunity.

But not this time!

Today I am showing you a polish that I have worn a few times lately because there is just something about the milk chocolate shade that I quite like.

It is a shade by Polished London and is called Milky Mocha.

I quite like this brand of nail polish and I own quite a few of them now. They are nice and affordable and can last 3-4 days on me with no chips which is always a nice bonus.

This polish applies smoothly without any bubbles and dries nice and quickly too. It has a great shine as well which I like because it saves a time poor person like me from having to bother with applying a top coat.

What nail polish have you been favouring lately?

Have a lovely weekend!

Nails of the Week - Furless Cosmetics Professional Nail Lacquer in Freak

A little while ago I was asked if I'd like to try out some of the new Furless Nail Lacquers and being the nail polish hoarder that I am I just couldn't say no.

The first colour that really got my attention was Freak. It's a gorgeous deep green bordering on emerald and it's quite unlike any other green that I have in my polish collection.

The below images were taken in natural lighting with no flash:

Here is a little bit about the Furless Cosmetics Professional Nail Lacquers from their website:

'Indulge yourself with our professional vegan and cruelty free nail lacquer. Furless nail polish is long wearing, fade resistant and is free from toluene, formaldehyde, carmine, and dibutyl phthalate.'

I have to say that I love me a good green nail polish and I can see me getting a lot of wear out of this shade.

Here is what this polish looks like with flash:

What I like about this polish is that it goes on nice and smooth and doesn't bubble or take too long to dry. The formula was quite thin though and I did need to apply three coats to get a good opaque coverage. If you look closely at the first picture above with flash you can just see that on my index finger you can see through the tip of the nail just slightly even after three coats but it isn't noticeable at all in regular light.

Very soon I will also be showing you the shades 'Polished' which is described as a shiny metallic bronze as well as 'Attention Seeker', a very bright pinky purple.

Considering these nail lacquers are only priced at $12.00 each they're definitely good value and I may have been spotted checking out their website to see what other shades I may add to my collection :-)

Has anyone else tried these nail lacquers yet? I'd love to know what other shades are good.

Have a great week.

Nails of the Week - A French Manicure with a Difference: Nude Nails with Blue Tips

We had a friend's wedding last weekend and this is the mani that I decided to do for the occasion. I don't know what possessed me to try this as I wasn't wearing anything even remotely blue but sometimes I just like to try something different for a change.

This nail look was done using one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Nail Colour in Petal Pusher as a base and then two coats of Revlon Perfumed Nail Enamel in Mint Fizz.

I really like this combination and the fun look of the blue tips. Now I'm inspired to try this again with all manner of colour combinations!

What do you think? Is this a look you would try yourself?

Have a great weekend.

Nails of the Week - Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in Wind Fall

I realised the other day that I haven't done a nail post in such a long time so I thought I'd share a shade that I have been wearing an awful lot this summer due to it just being what I think is a 'happy' sort of shade. It's also obviously a green shade which means I was just destined to love it because I have a tendency to be a little bit obsessed with anything I can get my hands on that is green.

This shade is one of the Top Speed range from Revlon and is called Wind Fall. It's a hard green to describe (something I'm normally pretty shocking with anyway) but it's kind of a cross between a green and an aqua to me.

I've always been a big fan of Revlon polishes and have quite a few of them now because they seem to always be a consistent formula that applies well, have a nice shine and last for days. I never seem to have much trouble with Revlon polishes bubbling or streaking either and usually only need to apply two coats to get great coverage.

I personally just love this shade because it's a bit quirky and makes me smile when I look at it. I know it's not a shade that would appeal to everyone but where would the fun be if we were all the same, right?

What polish shades have you been loving lately?

Nails of the Week - Camouflage Colours Nail Lacquer in Blackened Brown

So it has been ages since I have done a nails of the week post. Almost a couple of months I think! I seemed to have been through a phase it was just always too much trouble to sit down and paint my nails and it's probably the longest I have ever gone in my life without having nail polish on.

I finally broke the drought by trying out this polish which I think I got in a past Bellabox a while ago. When I first looked at it I thought 'hmmm, who in their right mind would want their nails to look like dirt?' as the colour looks just awful in the bottle.

Unfortunately, it doesn't really change much once applied to the nails.

This shade is a very plain, dark brown with no shimmer or anything else at all to make it special. It's definitely not a shade that I would rave about which is a bit of a shame really.

I also needed three coats to completely cover my nails and then it chipped the next day!

Camouflage Colours are an Australian brand and you can find out more about their nail lacquers here. There are so many other gorgeous shades in the range too.

Has anyone else tried these before?

Nails of the Week - OPI Nail Lacquer in I Want To Be A-Lone Star

I have been sporting this gorgeous pale icy blue all this week and even though I love the colour it has to be one of the most high maintenance shades I have worn in a long time.

Firstly it takes three coats to become opaque and I have to always wait forever between coats so that it doesn't bubble or streak.

When I have the time and can be bothered though it really is such a pretty polish and because it needs three coats it wears for over a week with very minimal chipping.

I only have a small handful of OPI polishes because even though they have such a massive range of colours I've never been fully won over by their formula.

Maybe there's just something wrong with me considering how popular they are??

Does anyone else think OPI are a little overrated or is it just me who should be hanging my head in shame?

I hope everyone has had a lovely Easter weekend :-)

Nails of the Week - Napoleon Perdis Skinny Latte Nail Polish

This is my first ever Napoleon polish and although the shade is not something I would normally choose to wear (I'm more of a bright nail polish gal), it actually grew on me more every day I wore it and is one that I really like now.

I received this polish ages ago when I had a makeover at the local Napoleon Perdis counter and if you spent over a certain amount on products after you received a little goody bag with a few things in it. This polish was part of that goody bag.

This polish is surprisingly long lasting and is opaque after just two coats (which is what I am wearing here). It's a lovely consistency to apply and dries quite fast without any streaking or bubbles forming after multiple coats.

It took me so long to try this out because the colour just wasn't calling to me but I'm really glad that I did now. I felt a little bit too librarian at first when I put it on but it's surprising how nice it actually makes the nails look.

I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for other Napoleon Perdis polishes from now on!

Has anyone else ever used a polish from this range before?

I hope everyone has had a great week!

Nails of the Week - Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Sonic Bloom

Apologies for not posting a nail of the week for so long but my nails had a few issues in January and decided to break left, right and centre so I had to wait for them to grow to a nice enough length again before they were photo worthy.

I received this polish a while ago in one of the monthly sample boxes and have been so taken with it lately, even though I am totally at a loss as to how to descibe it adequately. In some lights it looks red and in others it looks kind of like a super bright pink. I just can't seem to make my mind up which colour describes it better but I don't really care because it is utterly gorgeous!

My photos are a pretty good representation of the colour so I might have to let them speak for themselves.

This polish has an awesome large square brush which reduces the amount of brush strokes you need to do to cover the entire nail and it almost gets away with being a one coat polish. I have applied two coats in these photos with no top coat because frankly it doesn't need it. I think it is shiny enough on its own.

Isn't it pretty??

Has anyone else tried this shade before?

Nails of the Week - Wet 'n' Wild Nail Colour in 'Mystery Shade'

This week I've been wearing a polish from Wet 'n' Wild that I received in one of the monthly subsciption boxes a little while ago.

Unfortunately, there is no label on this polish anywhere that lets me know what shade it is. Talk about frustrating!!

This polish is what I call 'Extreme Glitter' as it's practically opaque in one coat and is so thickly packed that it is in no way a layering glitter. It's one that hogs the spotlight all on it's own.

It's a gorgeous shade that I love wearing but the first time I had it on a couple of weeks ago I realised just how nightmarise it is to actually remove. It takes sooooo many cotton pads soaked in nail polish remover to get it off, and you end up with glitter where no glitter should ever be, that now I've worn it twice I'm debating as to whether I'll ever actually attempt to wear it again.

It's one of those polishes that look great on but are just too much trouble in the end to really bother, which is a real shame.

Just to satisfy my curiousity, does anyone have the faintest idea what this shade is actually called?? I'd love to know!

Nails of the Week - Ulta3 Nail Colour in Enchanted

This is a very decieving polish. In the bottle it looks like a really pretty dark green with a holographic effect through it. Unfortunately this doesn't translate at all onto the nail and it ends up looking more like a gunmetal grey in most light than green which was a little disappointing.

I received this shade a little while ago in one of the monthly beauty sample boxes but have only just gotten around to trying it out over the last couple of weeks.

It's a very thick polish to apply and you need to wait a good amount of time between coats or it will bubble like crazy. It's definitely not a polish you would apply last minute for a special occassion. You really need to plan ahead to wear this one.

I really wish this polish looked the same on the nail as it does in the bottle. It would be a really lovely shade if it did.

The polish itself lasted only around three days before chipping too which was a shame.

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas tomorrow and that you all get spoilt rotten :-)

Review: 4Me Nail Polish Remover Pads

I received these in one of the last monthly subscription boxes and just had to try them straight away as I have actually never tried nail polish remover pads before.

There is 30 pads in this cute little container and they are alcohol and acetone free.

I think these are a great idea as they are a lot less risky to use than regular remover for a clumsy person like me who is very prone to spills, and I also like the fact that I feel a bit safer using them when my little man is around too.

They seem to remove most polishes pretty effectively and one pad can do anywhere from two to four nails depending on how many coats I have on or how dark the polish is. Considering there is 30 pads in the pack that's not too bad and means they will last for at least 15 uses.

I only have two issues with these pads that I have to mention. The first one is that they can feel a little greasy when used and leave quite a lot of residue behind. This is obviously to help condition the nails during polish removal but it's just a bit too much and doesn't really sink in or evaporate for a very long time. This is nothing that a wipe with a tissue, wet wipe or a quick run of your fingers under some cold water can't fix but I still thought it worth a mention.

The second issue is that they seem to dry out a bit between uses. I've made sure that I close the cap as tight as I can but the first pad on the top when it is opened next always seems to be a bit drier than the rest. I've found that if I press them all down firmly prior to use this kind of squeezes the solution back into the top pads so this also isn't really so bad.

Overall I think I'd definitely buy these again as they really are a good, mess free option that would also be great for travelling.

Has anyone else used these before?

Nails of the Week - Australis Nail Colour in Bombshell

I now have a new favourite polish and funnily enough it's a colour that I normally detest; Pink!!

Bombshell is one of those polishes that really make you look twice. It's such a super bright and eyecatching shade and I couldn't help but keep looking at my nails when I had it on.

This polish was virtually opaque in just one coat but I applied two just to make it that little bit stronger on the nails. Amazingly it lasted for almost a week without any chips too.

I usually have a fear of anything that is bright pink as it takes me back to my childhood where my mother literally saturated me in the colour because she just couldn't understand that I was more my father's daughter and preferred to be underneath cars and getting coated in grease rather than wearing pink ruffles and sipping tea with her.

BUT, I have to give credit where credit is due and that is with this shade because it is fricken awesome!

Has anyone else fallen in love with this shade too?
