Bite Beauty High Pigment Lip Pencil in Violet

During one of my recent Sephora online binges I decided to try out this Bite Beauty High Pigment Lip Pencil in Violet. I already owned one in the shade Quince which I fell in love with straight away, so decided to try another shade and now I can't speak highly enough of these pencils.

These lip pencils are pretty much as thick as a crayon and twist up and down by turning the coloured bit at the end of the pencil. Unfortunately, the only downside to these when you first get one is that the pencil doesn't retract all of the way in, so if you're not careful when taking the lid on and off you can hit the tip which can then make the tube a bit messy if you don't realise it's happened.

The shade Violet is described as a 'Lavender Violet' and is very much just that. It's a beautiful medium purple that is surprisingly wearable for everyday. I love purple shades like this one that are not too dark to be goth, but just bright enough to lift the face without needing a huge amount of makeup to look good.

Overall, these are a beautiful and smooth lip crayon that glide on effortlessly when applied. They feel really moisturising on the lips and don't dry them out, even after hours of wear. The colour stays put for quite a few hours as well and leaves a slight stain as it wears off. They also have a very subtle sweet, almost fruity, scent that isn't too overpowering and they don't seem to bleed into the lip lines either which is always a big problem for me so I absolutely love it when I find a lip product that doesn't do this.

I'm a bit addicted to wearing these pencils and am thinking about which shade I want to try out next.

Has anyone else tried these lip pencils out and want to suggest which shade I should try next?

I hope everyone is having a lovely long weekend!

Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Quince - The Ultimate 'Pick Me Up' Shade

As most of you would know I haven't really been feeling myself lately due to my skin and body working against me in the final stages of pregnancy.

Due to this, for quite a while now I have been wearing very heavy foundation but minimal everything else to try and minimise any attention being drawn to my face and skin. My makeup routine has pretty much consisted of a neutral eye, natural pink cheeks and a muted lip in either a nude or pale pink shade.

But you know what? Sometimes a girl just needs a little pick me up and this Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Quince has been my little 'feel good' shade on those days when I've been in need of breaking out of my muted makeup look.

The Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencils are a thick lip crayon with a lovely soft and buttery texture. They give off a fairly matte lip look and come in wind up packaging which I love because there's nothing worse than having to sharpen lip crayons in my opinion.

These lip pencils are SUPER pigmented just as the name suggests. When I first purchased this a while ago from Sephora and tried it on I scared myself with how full-on it applied on my lips. I subsequently put it away in my makeup drawer and it didn't see the light of day again until I worked up enough courage a couple of weeks ago to try it out again.

Quince is described as a 'Rose Berry' and it is such a stunning shade, especially during these dull winter months.

It applies very evenly as the crayon itself is quite soft and the colour lasts for practically an entire day as it wears off leaving a nice stain on the lips that can be brought back to life just by applying a top coat of either a pale pink or clear gloss.

It doesn't feel drying on the lips at all but does have a tendency to bleed a little into the lip lines unless a lip liner is used or a bit of concealer is applied around the lip area to seal the colour in. I like to use an invisible lip liner so that the end shade isn't affected and an invisible liner also doesn't make the lips look as 'done' in my opinion either.

In the above picture I had been wearing the High Pigment Pencil in Quince for around two hours already during a morning meeting consisting of a lot of talking and coffee drinking and it was still as punchy and flawless as when it was first applied. I haven't put up a picture of my face in months so please excuse the mars-like surface of my poor skin in this one. This was actually taken on what I consider a 'good skin' day where I was actually able to conceal it to a decent level :-)

This is the first Bite Beauty product I have tried and it's certainly made me keen to try some other items from their range now.

On another note, I only have two more weeks to go until bub comes so to say I'm excited is an understatement!

Has anyone else tried one of these High Pigment Pencils before? I'm keen to know what other shades are really good and worth trying.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Face of Australia Glossy Lip Crayon in Peach Parfait

So I grabbed this lip crayon a little while ago during a random Priceline visit as the shade looked really pretty when I swatched it in store.

Unfortunately I was severely disappointed when I got home and tried it on my lips and I still haven't really warmed to it yet.

This frosty peach/orange shade just doesn't seem to work at all with my skin tone and I actually think it makes me look years older whenever I wear it. The colour seems to really bring out the orange in my freckles too which I absolutely hate!

It's such a shame really as I absolutely love the other three Face of Australia lip crayons that I have in Macaron, Sundae and Cupcake (previously reviewed here) and was looking forward to adding a new love to my lip crayon collection.

Oh well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

There seems to be a few different shades in this range now and I'd love to know if anyone has tried any of the others and recommend them?

Also, huge apologies for the lack of actual lip swatches lately but pregnancy has not been very kind to my skin at all and I have pimples and redness galore all over my face that no amount of foundation or concealer seems to make acceptable for face photography. I'm really hoping it calms down soon. Sigh!

Have a great week!

It's Good To Be Chubby - Clinique Chubby Sticks in Two Ton Tomato and Curvy Candy

Ok, so I know I'm VERY slow with getting on the Clinique Shubby Stick bandwagon but now I finally am I'm hooked!

Have you ever had that one product that you lusted after every day but just couldn't get yourself to actually buy it for some reason? That was me and the Chubby Sticks. I stopped at my local Clinique counter practically every time to drool over these beauties and swatch away, then I would always just walk away empty handed.

Why you ask? Well, I'd read so many mixed reviews for them that I was reluctant to part with what really is a sizeable amount for a glorified tinted lip balm. So, I dreamed my little dream but never took the plunge to actually purchase one.

Then came Valentine's Day this year. Hubby was awesome enough to go out of his way at lunchtime when he was at work and walk up to a Clinique counter and explain his silly wife's obsession to the sales assistant, all while she swatched away so he could try and choose some shades he could see me wearing.  was so impressed because I had no idea of his intentions and I really don't think I have said enough on this blog how much I really do love my hubby :-)

Between the two of them they decided on Two Ton Tomato, a gorgeous sheer red, and Curvy Candy, a lovely sheer flushed pink.

My favourite is definitely Two Ton Tomato and I have been wearing it a lot due to it being just such a lovely, wearable red for everyday.

The Chubby Sticks feel just so moisturising on my lips and amazingly last around 3-4 hours on me without having to be reapplied. They really are a glorified tinted lip balm I'll admit but as far as I'm concerned they can get away with it by being just plain cute and so easy to apply due to the twist up nature of the stick.

I'm very keen to try out a couple more of these now that I finally have some.

What does everyone else think of the Chubby Stick? Am I the only one who still issues a small giggle whenever I say the name of these?

Have a great week!

My Favourite Lip Products This Summer

Over the past couple of months I've definitely been all about simple, easy makeup looks due to the hot weather we have been having here in Australia. Also, my skin has been in the best condition it's been in for years and I haven't wanted to hide it by wearing heavy makeup for once.

Due to this I've been favouring fresh and pretty lip colours that are easy to wear with almost any look during the day or night and are also moisturising on the lips as well.

Here are the lip products that have been on high rotation for me this summer:

Listed in Order of Swatches:
1) Avon Simply Pretty Colour Bliss Lipstick in Darling Mauve - Such a pretty bright pink which almost borders on a cool plum. This lipstick has amazing staying power and has rekindled my love for the brand Avon again.
2) Avon Shine Attract Lipstick in Plum Berry - This is an unusual lipstick where the colour is encased inside a clear gloss. It's a colour that is barely there on the lips but it gives such a pretty shine and makes my lips feel lovely and moisturised for hours.
3) Revlon Lip Butter in Cherry Tart - I love this lip butter because it gives just the right amount of colour without being too much of an over-the-top red. These don't stay very long on my lips though and I find I am applying it a lot during the day.
4) Models Prefer Lipstick in After Party - I first mentioned this lipstick here and it is still a favourite that I bring out regularly for a fun night time lip. I am always amazed at how long this lipstick stays on my lips and it never feels dry.
5) Napoleon Perdis Lip Patrol in Private Kiss - This is such a pretty My Lips But Better kind of colour that feels lovely on and is a great lipstick for when you want to have a subtle look but still want a hint of colour.
6) Models Prefer Ultra Lipgloss Pencil in Kiss & Make Up - Probably my favourite lip crayon of all time and my go-to colour when I can't be bothered thinking about what I want to wear. It's a pretty pink that goes with everything and lasts a nice couple of hours on the lips.
7) Face of Australia Sheer Lip Gloss Crayon in Cupcake - I usually wear this pale pink when I don't have much else on my face as it gives a hint of colour without looking like I've really got anything on. These just don't seem to last very long on and need constant re-application which is the only disappointing thing I have found with these crayons.
8) Clinique Long Last Glosswear in Sunset - An old favourite that always comes out this time of year as it's such a pretty gold gloss that gives a lovely shine to the lips and lasts forever.
9) Mirenesse Velvet Lip Lift Moisture Shine in No. 47 - It's no secret I'm a huge fan of these Mirenesse lip glosses and this one is my current favourite as it's a really pretty pale coral shade.
10) Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate - I love the feel of these butters on my lips but I hate the container and having to use my finger or a cotton tip to get the product out. This is such a pretty colour though and makes my lips feel super moisturised when I'm wearing it.

Do you tend to stick with a few favourites at certain times of the year like me?

Face of Australia Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons - Love At First Swatch!

Recently I had a bit of a lemming moment and decided in a split second moment to buy some of the new Face of Australia Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons. I didn't really need any more lip colours, but I've seen these around so much lately that curiosity just got the better of me.

The crayons come in a three pack with three very wearable colours for pretty much anybody. They are very moisturising and are almost as good as a tinted lip balm with keeping the lips hydrated when applied.

They are so smooth to apply and come in a very handy wind up applicator rather than needing to be sharpened like some other lip crayons. They aren't too soft either so you don't end up crushing the tip if you press too hard which is great.

Macaron - A really pretty bright pink

Sundae - A very sheer nude

Cupcake - A subtle pale pink

Macaron is definitely my favourite shade of all three although I have been using Cupcake like it's going out of style because it's such a great shade to keep in my handbag for subtle touch-ups during the day when I'm out and about. It's so sheer you don't need to be anywhere near a mirror to reapply.

Left to Right: Macaron, Sundae & Cupcake (Without Flash)

(With Flash)

I'd love to see these available as single crayons so you could purchase your favourite one when it runs out rather than having to buy the pack again and more colours, such as a sheer red or coral, would be great too.

Has anyone else tried these yet? If so, what did you think?
