Face of Australia Glossy Lip Crayon in Peach Parfait

So I grabbed this lip crayon a little while ago during a random Priceline visit as the shade looked really pretty when I swatched it in store.

Unfortunately I was severely disappointed when I got home and tried it on my lips and I still haven't really warmed to it yet.

This frosty peach/orange shade just doesn't seem to work at all with my skin tone and I actually think it makes me look years older whenever I wear it. The colour seems to really bring out the orange in my freckles too which I absolutely hate!

It's such a shame really as I absolutely love the other three Face of Australia lip crayons that I have in Macaron, Sundae and Cupcake (previously reviewed here) and was looking forward to adding a new love to my lip crayon collection.

Oh well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

There seems to be a few different shades in this range now and I'd love to know if anyone has tried any of the others and recommend them?

Also, huge apologies for the lack of actual lip swatches lately but pregnancy has not been very kind to my skin at all and I have pimples and redness galore all over my face that no amount of foundation or concealer seems to make acceptable for face photography. I'm really hoping it calms down soon. Sigh!

Have a great week!

My Latest Sephora Haul

This latest haul from Sephora was again care of my great personal shopper, aka. my hubby. Today was his last day working virtually across the road from the store (sob!) which means I won't have such easy access to this wonderful place anymore.

After a couple of days of deciding I gave him my wishlist and sent him on his way and this is what he ended up bringing home:

1) Cowshed Grumpy Cow Uplifting Bath & Shower Gel - This wasn't on my list but when I'd mentioned to him how much I loved the Lazy Cow one he got me last time he decided to get this one for me to try as well. And no, I couldn't be angry with him for getting Grumpy Cow this time as it pretty much fits how I feel these days being five months pregnant and totally over the whole thing already.

2) Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Quince - This was something I was really excited about as I've heard so many good things about these pencils. I originally had two different shades on my list but apparently they were both out of stock (Typical!) so hubby took it upon himself to choose this one as being the closest to one of the others I'd chosen. Quince is such a bright, rich magenta shade that I'm still working up the courage to try applying it to my lips as yet but will most likely put up a review once I do.

3) Becca The One Perfecting Brush - Hold on while I take a moment to actually think about how much I just spent on one makeup brush! This was a bit of an impulse addition to my list and I guess I was almost secretly hoping deep down that they would be out of stock so that I wouldn't have to feel guilty about buying one. But, low and behold they had plenty of stock and now I am the proud owner of one of these beauties. I don't know why I had to have one but I just did and I can't wait to see if it is worth all the hype.

4) Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Fearless - This was on my list and the exact shade I wanted too! I am probably the only beauty lover in Australia that did not already own one of these puppies so I can now breath a big sigh of relief.

I did have a couple of other items on my list that apparently weren't in stock or just weren't stocked in the Australian store (bummer!) so I will have to keep these on my wishlist for the future.

Due to the fact that hubby spent so much he also got given a couple of free gifts at the checkout which was a nice little surprise. These were an Ole Henriksen 3 Little Wonders Mini Collection which consists of a Truth Serum Collagen Booster, an Invigorating Night Treatment and a Sheer Transformation moisturiser plus a small sample of the Balenciaga B. fragrance.

I haven't ever tried either of these before so was quite happy to get them as samples.

So, that was my latest (and quite possibly last) haul from Sephora. One day I might be able to ditch my son and my work and take a trip down into Sydney myself to go through there but I won't hold my breath!

Have you tried any of these products? What other things should I have had on my wishlist instead?

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Cherry Brown Natural Lipstick in Hot Pink

I received this lipstick as part of a Nature's Beauty Bag a while ago and have recently started wearing it on a regular basis.

Cherry Brown make natural lipsticks and natural mineral cosmetics in the Huon Valley, Tasmania, Australia. According to their website, everything is made from only the best natural ingredients including extra-virgin oils and mineral colours.  All products are free from chemicals, animal products and synthetic dyes. No palm oil is used in any of our products and they are all suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Here is some information on their Natural Lipstick range:

'Our lipsticks are super moisturising and are made with pure ingredients like apricot kernel oil and extra virgin macadamia nut oil.

Our lipsticks are free from:
  • Animal testing
  • Petroleum products
  • Palm oil in any of its forms
  • Animal Ingredients
  • Chemical additives
  • Preservatives
  • Synthetic dyes and colours
  • Micronised ingredients
  • Nanoparticles

The shade I received was Hot Pink and it is definitely true to its name. This shade is not for the faint of heart as it is such a vibrant, hot pink on the lips with cool undertones.

Surprisingly I've been getting quite a bit of wear out of this lipstick even though it is so bright, mainly because I have been a bit lazy lately with the rest of my face makeup so putting on some bright lips seems to make me feel put together even when the rest of my makeup is quite bland.

This lipstick can be worn quite sheer with just one swipe or it can be built up to be a beautiful vibrant pink on the lips with a few coats. It's quite moisturising on the lips and doesn't feel dry at all as it wears off. I usually get around 3-4 hours of wear from it under normal circumstances before needing to touch it up.

What I also love about this lipstick is that it doesn't really have any noticeable taste as far as I can tell and no scent either which is always a big winner with me.

If you have never checked out anything by this Australian brand I definitely recommend having a look at their website. They have a few different shades in their lipstick range as well as other products such as mineral makeup and eye makeup. I'm always on the hunt for a good Aussie brand and get very excited when I come across a new one.

Has anyone else ever tried any products from Cherry Brown before?

Have a great weekend everyone!

February 2015 Favourites

So, I've only really gotten back into caring about what products I was using in the past month because prior to that when I was in the worst of my morning sickness and exhaustion period I really didn't care about anything!

During February I found that I was gravitating the most towards all of the following products:

* The Body Shop Shea Body Butter - Now I have an ever growing belly I've been slathering this stuff on every day to make sure I don't get any stretch marks again throughout this pregnancy. I managed to be lucky enough to not get any last time so fingers crossed!
* Cowshed Lazy Cow Soothing Bath & Shower Gel - Hubby was kind enough to buy this for me one day from Sephora on one of his lunchtime walks (he works just around the corner so lucky me!) and when he saw that it contained essential oils of jasmine, chamomile and sandalwood he thought it would be a good thing to try and calm me down at night when I wasn't feeling so good. The scent is very strong and took a little getting used to but I am totally in love with it now.
* Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream - This has been hands down my most favourite BB Cream of all time so far. It goes on nice and smooth and the coverage is great. It's also quite matte too which I really like and it makes a great base for those days when I just can't be bothered wearing foundation but want my skin to look more even.
* Kosmea Australia Replenishing Moisture Cream - I have been using this of a morning as I find the Rose scent soothing. It's a lovely, light cream that makes my skin feel nice and moisturised for the day.

* Sephora Contour Eye Pencil in Black Lace - Hubby scored again by taking another trip to Sephora and buying me one of their 'Best of' gift sets which contained around 8 of their best selling products. This eye pencil was in it and I have used it exclusively ever since, mainly because it is waterproof and therefore does not budge for at least 8 hours on me which is a pretty big event considering I have the worst hooded eyes in history and am usually lucky if an eye pencil stays put for up to two hours.
* Sephora Nail Lacquer in Pole Dance - This was another product in the 'Best of' set and I have worn it exclusively on my toes for over six weeks now and am a bit obsessed with it. It's such a gorgeous, deep, burgundy red that looks really elegant in my opinion. It wears pretty well too and takes quite a long time before it starts to chip.
* Sephora Hydrating Powder Blush in Romantic Rose - Yep, another goody from the 'Best of' set that I have developed a deep love for. It's such a flattering, natural pink shade that is so easy to apply and blend out and it has helped me on many days to not look like the zombie that I really felt like.
* Beesline Beeswax Jelly - I have been using this on my lips at night before going to bed and love how soft they feel in the morning when I wake up. It's got no scent that I can identify which has been great on my worst sick days and I've also found it great for any dry eczema patches that pop up now and then.
* Benefit Lolli Tint - I have been using this stain on my lips prior to applying any lipstick or gloss as it means I am left with a nice pink stained lip at the end of the day. I'm not really a huge fan of using it as a cheek stain as I find it a bit too fiddly to blend out before it sets but it's definitely a winner for the lips.
* Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Mascara in Noir Max - This is a great mascara for lengthening and thickening the lashes and I have been using it every day lately.
* Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer - I don't think I really need to say very much about this concealer as every man and his dog probably knows about it already. All I'll say is that it has been my saviour on many mornings when my poor under eyes were not looking so fresh and is a product that I would hate to live without.
* Ulta3 Colour Me Pretty Lipstick Crayon in Pretty Nude - So here is yet another lipstick crayon product on the market and one that I've really grown fond of. It doesn't have any taste or scent at all and is nice and smooth to apply. It gives quite a good colour payoff and leaves a lovely glossy shine on the lips. Nude lips have been my favourite lately as they make me feel put together without having to make too much of an effort with the rest of my makeup.

So those were my favourite products over February.

I'd love to know what products you've been enjoying over the past month or so?

Have a great week.
